BEAUTIFUL, UNIQUE AND AFFORDABLE:
That’s what a bridal gown ought to be. But it’s easier said than done to find one that fits all those criteria, as well as fits you. The solution might be closer than you think. Forever Bella Boutique on Saginaw and Hemphill Roads in Burton may have that perfect wedding dress.
Now moving into its second year, the mother-and-daughter store has recently started to carry bridal wear in addition to gowns for proms and other formal occasions. The company specializes in women’s, teens’, girls’ and toddlers’ clothing, as well as shoes, accessories and jewelry. While most of the gowns are new, a small percentage of inventory is in excellent worn condition and priced accordingly budget friendly. Co-owner with her daughter, Victoria Griggs, Wanda Belton is the store’s in-house seamstress who does alterations to make sure the gown is the client’s perfect fit, plus outside alterations as well.
“Originally we were My Dreams Do Come True, which helped hardship senior girls get prom dresses for free,” Griggs says. “When the organization shut down last year we wanted to keep the concept going. We have a hardship program for high school seniors where our team of ambassadors collect donated dresses for the program. They also do fashion shows, photo shoots and fundraiser events.”
“We have about 50 bridal gowns starting at sizes 2 to 24 and more than 500 formal dresses,” Griggs says. “We carry long and short gowns by designers like Alyce, Abby Paris, Colors, Alfred Angelo, Sorella Vita and Lucci Lu. We only ever buy one of any design and we carry sizes 0 to 28.”
Griggs explains that their mission is more about the people than the profit. “Our prices range from the lowest at around $50 for a gently worn gown to brand new designer gowns starting as low as $75 to $400, and that helps us pay for our overhead. But our business is more than that – it’s our passion to help our community.”
