Are you just starting out? Looking to expand your network? Maybe you have an existing company and are in need of a certification. The Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) can help you succeed.
“Whether you’re just starting out, looking to expand your network or seeking a small business certification, we can help you succeed.”
The Region 6 PTAC – located at the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce, and one of 11 regional offices statewide – has a track record of successfully preparing local businesses to win government contracts on the local, state and federal levels. It helps companies in a seven-county region – Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, Shiawassee, St. Clair and Tuscola – navigate the maze of government contracting.
The Region 6 PTAC provides procurement advice and counseling to Michigan companies interested in doing business with local, state, and federal governments. A knowledgeable team works with clients from start to finish, providing flexible, responsive and confidential counsel. The PTACs are federally funded through the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), with matching funds provided by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
“Whether you’re just starting out, looking to expand your network or seeking a small business certification, we can help you succeed,” said Region 6 PTAC Director Stacy Betts. “Our staff are certified in federal contract management and experienced in all levels of government contracting, from providing assistance in writing proposals to identifying opportunities.”
In 2015, nearly 2,100 businesses were served by the 11 regional PTAC offices statewide, resulting in $1.57 billion in contracts awarded. Of those, 511 companies came through the Region 6 PTAC with government contracts awarded valued at $103 million.
“PTAC has been an irreplaceable asset to our company with our company’s growth in government contracting. I see Region 6 PTAC as a business partner, who welcomes leadership opportunities and meets deadlines,” said Darren Corcoran, COO Vet Access LLC.
PTAC’s 2016-2017 program year is well underway, and the line-up includes introductory workshops for businesses new to government contracting as well as certification courses for current and prospective clients.

MEET THE BUYERS
Region 6 PTAC will be hosting a Meet the Buyer-Mini Series in 2017. This event will allow businesses to network with industry peers, and the opportunity to learn and discuss the latest products and services within select industries.
“The format will feature a single buyer who will have 20 minutes to share information about their organization and what they buy,” said Betts. “Suppliers will have then have an opportunity to briefly present their company’s capabilities. The event will be repeated at several different locations during the year.”
The schedule for the Meet the Buyer-Mini Series in 2017 will posted on the Flint & Genesee Chamber’s website at flintandgenesee.org/ptac.
