Knowing your doctor can often be the first step to better health. Being comfortable explaining your health problems and feeling at ease when you’re on the exam table can impact your visit. So, today we want to introduce you to Hamilton Community Health Clinic’s providers at the Lapeer clinic.
Hamilton is located at 1570 Suncrest Drive, Lapeer, and is open to patients who are insured or uninsured Monday through Friday from from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Family practice physician Jaspreet Mann, M.D., accepts patients from newborn and up. Together with Elaine Boyle, physician assistant, they are excited to welcome new patients and serve the Lapeer community.
Jaspreet Mann, M.D., Family Medicine
Mann is a board certified family practitioner who completed her medical studies at the American University of Antigua College of Medicine. Mann came to Hamilton Community Health Network after completing her residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
“I originally grew up in Toronto, but I spent a lot of time in other countries, including England and Antigua,” Mann says. “Regardless of where I was living, I was always interested in the sciences.”
After completing her residency, Mann was looking to further her career and wanted to make an impact on her patients. “I believe in working hand in hand with my patients. I want them to work with me and together we manage their health,” Mann explains. “The possibility of following a patient through his or her medical journey is what makes family practice so rewarding.”
In her spare time, Mann enjoys short trips back home to Canada to visit family, playing with her 2-year-old Siberian Husky and painting.
Elaine Boyle, Physician Assistant, Certified (PA-C)
Lapeer area patients can also see Elaine Boyle, who is a certified physician assistant who graduated from Western Michigan University and has 13 years’ experience in family practice.
As a child, Boyle knew she wanted to pursue a career in the medical field. “I had a fantastic pediatrician who was a key influence on me and why I became a physician assistant,” says Boyle. “She was very compassionate about her work.”
It wasn’t just a fluke that Boyle chose Hamilton as her place to practice. “I like taking care of the whole person and at Hamilton that’s what I can do. I see all kinds of patients, such as diabetics, mental health, reproductive health, well visits and everything,” explains Boyle. “That’s my reason for choosing Hamilton’s Lapeer location.”
Boyle grew up in the small town of Stockbridge, Michigan, and loves spending time with her three nephews, sewing and traveling the auto show circuit with her husband to show off their own vintage cars.
Both Mann and Boyle want their patients to be comfortable and at ease with them. A few tips to be comfortable when you’re visiting the doctor include:
1. Set an agenda – know what you want to talk about
2. Be honest – there’s nothing your doctor hasn’t seen before
3. Ask questions – tell your doctor you don’t understand if you don’t
4. Be a team – partner with your doctor to make treatment decisions that will work for you
If you’re searching for a new medical home, call Hamilton. With a clinic in Lapeer and six clinics across Genesee County, plus specialty doctors, Hamilton can treat you. Services are open to patients from all areas and are offered on a sliding fee scale. Hamilton also has dental and vision care along with two pharmacies with one in the Burton clinic and another pharmacy at the main clinic in Flint.
