The Genesee County Medical Society Alliance and the Pi Delta Chapter STTI Nursing Honor Society hosted the 24th Annual Healing Hands 5K Run/Walk to benefit the Genesee County Free Medical Clinic (GCFMC) as Stacey Doyle, the new Executive Director, was the master of ceremonies.
The Genesee County Free Medical Clinic is as an integral part of the community safety network continues to be an important resource and partner in helping the underserved low-income population in Genesee County. The clinic has established a legacy of healthcare to the uninsured in need of immediate assistance with medical care and medications after being discharged from the hospital/ER while applying for Medicaid, Medicaid Expansion and other products of the Affordable Care Act. This initiative plays an essential role in avoiding costly visits to ER and provides a patient-friendly path to a primary healthcare provider. GCFMC does not receive any federal funding and depends solely on the volunteer and financial support from hospitals, businesses, foundations, private individuals and our signature Healing Hands event.
